Asbestos Testing & Sampling
Professional sampling and laboratory analysis to determine whether a material contains asbestos.
If you have discovered a suspicious material in a home, workplace or construction site, Ensurve can help establish exactly what you are dealing with.
Is It Asbestos? Don't Guess – Get It Tested
Asbestos cannot reliably be identified simply by looking at a material.
Many asbestos-containing products resemble modern asbestos-free alternatives, so laboratory analysis is often necessary to confirm whether asbestos is present.
Ensurve provides:
- Professional asbestos sampling
- Laboratory analysis
- Domestic and commercial testing
- Testing before refurbishment
- Identification of asbestos type
- Clear results and recommendations
- Nationwide service
Materials Commonly Tested for Asbestos
Asbestos can occur in many different building materials.
Examples include:
Textured Coatings
Some older decorative coatings applied to walls and ceilings contained asbestos.
Boards & Panels
Insulating boards, ceiling tiles and fire-resistant panels may contain asbestos.
Cement Products
Roof sheets, panels, flues, gutters and other asbestos cement products remain common in older buildings.
Other materials can include floor tiles, pipe insulation, sprayed coatings, roofing products and various insulation materials.
How Asbestos Testing Works
1. Assessment
We identify the material or materials that require investigation.
2. Sampling
A representative sample is carefully taken while controlling the potential release of fibres.
3. Laboratory Analysis
The sample is analysed to determine whether asbestos fibres are present.
4. Results
You receive the findings and can then make an informed decision about management or removal.
Why Professional Sampling Matters
Attempting to break off a piece of suspected asbestos yourself can unnecessarily disturb the material and potentially release fibres.
Professional sampling is carried out using appropriate procedures designed to minimise disturbance and leave the sampled area in a safe condition.
If multiple areas or materials need investigating, a full asbestos survey may be more appropriate than individual samples.
What Happens If Asbestos Is Found?
Finding asbestos does not automatically mean the material needs immediate removal.
The correct response depends upon factors including:
Type of asbestos-containing materialCondition
Location
Likelihood of disturbance
Proposed work within the area
Ensurve can advise whether the material should be managed, encapsulated or removed.
